Wooden blocks are shaped, then carved or engraved. Alternative materials to wood are cork or cardboard, they are less durable but quick to prepare. The blocks are rolled with liquid dye and the colour is “stamped” on cotton. Natural vegetable dyes can be made using local plants and all the cloth used is recycled.
