Rebecca Holtom

Rebecca Holtom lives and works as an artist in the Languedoc region of France.
“I am a painter and printmaker, with a studio in the small village of Montpeyroux, near Montpellier.
Inspiration for my work is largely taken from my natural surroundings, the olive trees, rivers, mountains and cultivated vines that dominate the landscape. From the garrigue of the Larzac and the foothills of the Cevennes, to the Mediterranean Sea.
For me there is a profound necessity to try and preserve our landscape. I believe the artist has a role as a responsible observer and communicator.  I am always curious to meet other artists and see what others are contributing.

My own drawings are usually made in situe. They are then pinned to the walls in the studio and used for reference. On reflection, paintings and etchings evolve.
I focus on the act of seeing and the importance of drawing.

Collections of my work are exhibited in France and often in English galleries.

I run regular workshops which combine printmaking and papier maché for children and include life drawing with a model for adults.  From springtime onwards small groups are welcomed for weekly residencies”
